The Social Service Group (SSG) at IIM-Kozhikode is a student driven body formed with the primary purpose of making a difference to society. Formed as an ad-hoc body in 1999 to raise funds for the flood affected in Orissa, it was registered as a society in 2000. Since then the SSG has grown from strength to strength. SSG aims at strengthening networks and linkages between and among students, the community, socially responsible corporates, NGOs and other formal and informal institutions that can influence the impact of these development initiatives. It strives to provide local self help groups and other grassroots community initiatives with critical financial, organizational and managerial assistance. It focuses on health and education as the primary vehicles for building capabilities and expanding the available opportunities for development. Some of our significant achievements include: -
- Blood donation camps
- Health check up camps
- Internal Education Drive
- Old clothes donation drive
- Scholarships and education kits to schools in Kunnamangalam
- Donated money for the treatment of needy patients at the Palliative Care centre
- Newspaper collection drive
- The SSG Fete
- Established contacts with various NGOs and accomplished projects for them that covered a gamut of areas.
- Talks with an AIDS Awareness NGO in Calicut and medicines distribution.
