Started in the year 2004, the FDP programme at IIM K runs throughout the year. This is one of the prestigious courses which IIM K offers. Only IIM A offers a similar programme. Although IIM A is the pioneers of this programme, they have reduced the course to a 4 month course.

The AICTE has rated IIM K's faculty development programme as the best QIP (Quality Improvement Programme) available. Last year around 250 faculties from various top B-Schools and institutes had taken part in the FDP programme.

In a year IIM K conducts 10-12 such courses with an average intake of 25 students per batch.  In the current year 5 courses have been conducted so far and have already attracted 150 students. It is expected that the number of faculties trained in the current year would be approximately 300. This is phenomenal growth and popularity achieved in a span of just 3 years.

IIM K has always taken pride in contributing to the society and for the welfare of the country. Keeping the same mission in mind, this course is provided by the institute at a subsidized nominal cost of Rs 4000 per head. Although the cost to the institute is significantly higher, the institute perceives it to be a small cost incurred for developing bright faculty and contributing to the education sector as a whole.
