Well Navneet is right as usual! The best thing you can do after CAT is kinda chill out to the max. Go watch movies which you have been dying to watch for ages but couldn't because you had a paper to analyse. The cut offs and everything else will come out with time, the best you can do now is maybe stay away from the tension till the time results come out. But by this I do not mean to say that u put CAT outta ur mind completely. I suggest start reading the newspaper religiously from here on in. It can only help you in the future (at least thats what so many people told me during my post CAT days).. All in all, chillax.. and We, at iimklive, will be back with further programs once the results are out!

Hi Guys So how was your IIFT exam...this time it was a bit better than last year's exam which was the most difficult exam of last year . So expect the cut-offs to increase substantially . We will be out with a dedicated GD/PI thread or we might go in for a separate forum . We are ready to help you guys all the way till we meet each other . As mentioned by Abhishek do put in some efforts reading newspaper and also follow the big business stories . One of the most important things right now is to put in some effort for your hobby . Some of you might be having reading books(any kind) ,watching movies , collecting stamps etc as your hobby . As you will definitely be asked about your hobby in the PIs and if you don't give satisfactory answers then it will be a big negative . I am not suggesting you to read all the novels or go desperately collect stamps and so on but only become aware of that hobby . Try to strengthen that slowly but surely . I will be back in a few days time by Jan beggining we will be having the GD/PI thing started . ALL THE BEST for all the exams to follow . You will definitely make it!!!

For MBA Aspirants :CAT is over....now what??? 4 Years, 2 Months ago

As a person who has taken the CAT 6 times, I can only say that clearing the CAT is the easy part. The GD/PI sessions are of utmost importance, and there are many cases of candidates with high 99 percentiles not getting a final admit. Like Abhishek and the others have mentioned, read the newspapers religiously from now on. At least one business paper (Businessline or Business Standard) and one regular paper (The Hindu, etc) ... Awareness of current affairs is directly proportional to confidence and airtime one could garner in the actual GD. It would also make sense to join a GD/PI class (most of the coaching institutes offer it for free to those who get IIM calls) or gather a group of about 8 to 10 like minded friends who could help u simulate a GD scenario. Preparing the CV is important - get it reviewed by a couple of people, including some MBAs if possible. Keep it to 1 page - all MBA CVs are 1 page, and this is a good time to prepare one. Be comfortable with all aspects of your CV - you could be asked questions in the PI on anything that catches the eye of the interviewer. Go through your application forms thoroughly. There are some institutes that require references to be posted back. Some forms need attestation from gazetted officers, some need all crtificates to be attested. For those working, it is important to bring along your last payslip. Keep all documents ready in a folder, which could be handed over to the interview panel. This would take time, hence do not leave this to the last minute. I had to run around IIM Bangalore to get certies attested during my own GD/PI sessions, and it was not fun at all. More later. All the best. Rohit Koshy
